Old News Dump: 31 Ghosts

December 3, 2009 – First, the big news. 31 GHOSTS: THE BOOK IS READY! Click the book (or go here) to get your copy.

Other than that, life’s been busy busy busy. I’ve done a couple of shirt designs, I’m working on an illustration and a cover for a magazine and I have a few projects in the queue awaiting my attention. Not getting as much sleep as I’d like, but that’s the price of popularity, I guess. As these things because ready for viewing, I’ll update accordingly.

OCTOBER 31- Finish line! What a month. That was a lot of fun, and I really appreciate all the great feedback. I am planning on compiling these into a book, hopefully within the next couple of weeks. If you want me let you know when it’s available, drop me a line at this e-mail address.

I’ll be sure to keep you in the loop. So, without further ado, here’s the final ghost, Craig the Crook.

October 30 – King may look sad, but he’s fine. He just ate a lemon.

King’s available as a poster now, too, here. I’ll be working tonight on getting them all up at my Zazzle store, which you can find here – http://www.zazzle.com/gdelint

October 29 – Hooray! 2 more sleeps! This is the first one available as a print. You can buy a copy of Suzanne here, or by clicking on the image. I’ll probably be going back and making more available as prints. You you want to make a specific request, head on over to my contact page and let me here from you. Thanks.

Speaking of Halloween, my son has recently scared the crap out of me. He came home from day care with a picture of Scooby Doo and the gang that he’d coloured. I’ve scanned it for your enjoyment.

Honestly, he’s a very well adjusted young lad. I’m assuming he only had a red marker at his disposal. But I’m sleeping with one eye open.

Also, if you’re looking for some great, spooky Halloween music, check out Timber Timbre. They have a free EP available for download here.

October 28, 2009 – If you can tell me why this guy is named Arthur, I will be very, very impressed.

October 27, 2009 – Go get ’em, Killer!

October 26 – Golly, Taylor, can I try that delicious looking lolly?

October 25 – Gettin’ cosmic!

October 24 – This one’s my fault. I had steak tonight.

October 23 – Since my buddy Owen requested it on Facebook, here’s the step-by-step for how I did tonight’s ghost. For those uninterested, just skip my blah-blahing and scroll down a bit.

Step 1 – I usually pencil a sketch and scan it in. I resize the image to fit on a 1200 x 1200 canvas at 300dpi.

Step 2 – With a 9 pt brush, I do the initial inking.

Step 3 – I up the size of the brush to 15 pt, and thicken up the outline. This is usually when I decide where the light source will be, and I vary the line width to help indicate that. I got rid of the pencils, too.

Step 4 – I reduce the pen to 5 pt to add detail.

Step 5 – I colour in the whole ghost with the primer coat.

Step 6 – I thicken up the ghost with shadows.

Step 7 – I add a background that should would with the ghost. I then export to 600×600 dpi for web viewing and voila! Meet Millie.

October 22 – Hank the Hand Puppet.

October 21 – Fancy Francois.

October 20 – He’s Mindillo, and he’s IN YOUR HEAD!

October 19 – On Friday Night, I found myself seated in pervert’s row (by the stage, for those not in the know) of BB’s Dollhouse in Redcliff, AB with some very fun gals from the Pile o’ Bones Derby Club. I thought I should commemorate the evening with the ghost of an exotic dancer.

October 18 – The family’s back from Alberta. This one was pencilled in the van, finished on the wacom. WACOM!! Say it with me, WACOM!!!… I’m bit off from the drive… This is Burt Allen Zebub.

October 17 – This is the first post from the road.  I’m putting this up from the basement of Wes and Bonni’s house.  Wes and I have been watching Ghost Trackers, and I’m a bit freaked out – because I’m a pussy, and a touch drunk.  Here’s Grumps.

October 16 – As those of you living in Regina know, summer 09 was pretty crappy. I take partial responsibility, because I bought a pool. Not an actual swimming pool, but still bigger than a plastic wading pool. The terrible summer weather really only allowed for one decent day of pool fun. The other function of the pool was to murder a squirrel. I hadn’t purchased a pool cover, and the pool was just deep enough for a distraught squirrel to dive in and drown. Today’s ghost pays homage to that poor sad animal.

October 15, 2009 – Pretty much half way there – time to send in the clowns! Go to the light, Plinko!

October 14, 2009 – Next time you’re in the backwoods, and you sense a spectral presence, say “Hi” to Copurnicus. Yeah, Copurnicus. He’s quite clever. He just has bad teeth.

October 13, 2009 – This is Murray. Murray’s spooky.

October 12, 2009 – Toilet humour – I will never not love it. Cheeky Charlie.

October 11, 2009 – This fella has a bit of a zombie flavour. Let’s call him Bub.

October 10, 2009 – Here’s #10 – Victor.

October 9, 2009 – Due to popular demand, here a ghost facing the other way. Let’s call this guy Slugger.

October 8, 2009 – I was a little worried I’d miss tonight’s ghost. I was helping a friend move, and afterwards I was off to see Chad VanGaalen (who I hate, because he’s not only an incredible musician, but he’s also an amazing artist and animator, plus he’s hilarious – what an asshole). The show (which was incredible – man, I hate that guy) wrapped up with time to spare, so here’s #8 – Cloudy with a Chance of Spitballs.

October 7, 2009 – 31 Ghosts #7 – Sneaky Pete.

October 6, 2009 – Ghost-a-day #6. Saucy Lucy!

October 5, 2009 – Ghost-a-day #5. Milton Moustachio.

October 4, 2009 – Ghost-a-day #4. Ragin’ Roger. I don’t know if I’m going to continue with these alliterative names. I’m just in a mood.

October 3, 2009 – Ghost-a-day #3. Stunned Steve.

October 2, 2009 – October Ghost-a-day #2.

October 1, 2009 – I love Halloween. I thought I’d see if I could draw a new ghost every day for the entire month, leading up to the big day. Here’s #1.
